Newly Diagnosed - Temporal Lobe Epilepsy

Fri, 02/24/2017 - 16:36
Hi, my name is Brittany. I was diagnosed yesterday with epilepsy. Unbeknownst to me, I have been having absence seizures since I was around 7 years old. For a very ling time, I ignored the symptoms and just coped with the confusing and sometimes scary affects of my seizures. I was told by my previous primary care physician that I was having panic attacks. However a having a sleep deprived EEG and talking with a neurologist proved that I was in fact having seizures. I was put on 1000MG of Keppra daily on yesterday. And my neurologist called me after the appointment, and told me that she was obligated to report to the DMV that I shouldn't be driving. Which sucks for me because I work an hour away from home as a technical support agent for a large telecommunications company, which is my dream job. I haven't been here long, and I ma now facing having to inform my supervisor that I may not be able to drive to work going forward; which makes me very nervous.
