Newbie here with some concerns

Hello all, I was orginally dianosed with E after one grand-mal back in 1987. I was on a mix of AEDs for about 2 year and took myself off the drugs as I entered high school. I remained seizure free until 1999 which I had 2 seizures about 6 months, both were after nights of heavy drinking. I visited my neurologist in 1999 and he warned me about drinking too much and put me on a low doseage of Dilantin. I have have been seizure free until last week. At the ER my Dilantin level was low and I knew it was on a low level due to a checkup with my neurologist about 4 months ago. He said due to my size (6'4" and about 290lbs) that the dose of the drugs may not really be theraputic. He has upped my doseage for now. Since I have siezure so infrequently I am kinda of scared now. I go years with nothing a then out of nowhere it hits me. I have no warining, no aura, no strange feelings before a seizure. I shouldnt have much to complain about since other people have conditions way worse than mine. But I have recently been reading on SUDEP and other seizure related complications. I am really scared now. I also dont know if my recent change in diet has affected my E. I have started a fitness challenge and have been eating 6x per day and watching carbs but not excluding them. I have also been using Splenda recently which I have read about concerns causing seizure in people with E. Since my seizure are infrequent should I worry so much? Am I scaring myself too much about SUDEP? Any advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks CW

Hi CW. I don't think fitness would be a reason-- I lost 15lbs and almost 15% body fat a few years ago and had never felt better. Make sure you up your calories as you work out longer. During the peek of fitness I was eating 2500 calories a day and I'm 5'3" and 115lbs. And I never cut out carbs 3 carbs. Oh and I use splenda or equal almost everyday with my coffee :) I wouldn't worry about SUDEP. You had seizures for reasons-- not out of the blue. You drank the one time, you knew your meds were low the next. I went 5 years and 10 months without a seizure and a stressful event sent me into a grand mal. They're called breakthrough seizures.
