New to Epilepsy

Hello...this is all new to me...so bare with me. I am in the military and deploy often. On the average I am gone about 6-7 months a year. My wife was recently diagnosed with epilepsy. She had her first seizure back in March. I came home from overseas because we did not know what was going on. She has gone on medication for it but has still had a couple of seizures since. She had one last week while giving our 1 year old a bath. I was at work..and came home immediately. Well, we went to the doctor and he upped her medication to the max allowable with what she is on. He told me that this is the first medication trial so she has about a 50% chance she will take to it...after that he will switch her meds and then that will increase about 13%. After that..well...we cannot cure her seizures. She is 28 years old and right now on a 90 day no driving and no staying home with the baby. I guess I am just wondering if there is anyone who has experience with this and could give me some input. I am considering a reassignment for exceptional family members. My wife doesn't want me to, but we are still discussing it..any thoughts?

After my second baby out of

After my second baby out of the blue I started having seizures only we didn't know this right away they gradually got worse and it wasn't until last december that I was finally put on medication. I dont want to discourage you because everyone's circumstances are different but I have failed 4 meds now I am on two medications that are not working, and I cant drive for 6 months. I am now a surgery candidate. I would love to talk to your wife. Sounds like we have a lot in common. You can take this medication, two months later you can have break through seizures. I dont want to discourage you-mine built up to five seizures a day over time. I am 37 yrs.old. My husband is very frustrated and we are very new to this also. Hang in there.
