Is my medicine working or not?
Sat, 03/24/2007 - 20:10My symptoms all seemed to disappear (altered states, noxious smells) and everything was just fine. Now, they have come back. I have an appointment with my doc within the next 3 weeks. I'm not going to drop dead or anything, but I'm wondering why everything was fine for a couple of months, and now I'm having a return of symptoms. I figured everything was A-OK. Has the same thing happened to anyone else? I have had no side effects from the medicine. But, I still transpose numbers and have memory and concentration issues which are frustrating. My doc says that those (memory and concentration are affected by neurological conditions...they go with the territory and I'm using notes, alarms, etc. to help me out...which DO help!).
Anyhow, was anyone just fine for a number of monthes and then out of the blue, stuff started returnind? I don't miss taking my meds. It's not hit and miss with me.

Here's a page that may apply to your situation. I've had the same thing happen after being free for an entire decade.
It was then I heard the terms you'll read about in the article and learned this effect wasn't news to the medical community. It's just somethimg patients aren't generally told about:

Hi jack,
Auras that occur alone are simple partial seizures.
They are always ,in fact, simple partials.
The title 'aura' is just an indicator that they've occurred immediately before a complex partial or generalized seizure.

when i was 16 the doctors told me that i grew out of my epilepsy and took me off my meds. for a year i was fine! i never had one seizure then out of the blue i had one while i was driving. turns out i still had it. so back on the medication i went. now im thinking im getting auras without seizures... its great... :S once again back on the medication i go...
