Musical / Auditory Hallucinations

Has anyone experienced musical/auditory hallucinations and were afraid to tell anyone, even your doctor? My hallucinations seemed so real, I was scared to death that I was losing my mind.

ive suffered with epilepsy for years, but it seems to not be so bad anymore,it calmed down a lot, usually the way it would start with me is for example going into an arcade and hearing to many sounds at the same time or too many people talking at once,or the humming of a bus engine while riding a bus would trigger it,im not sure but i think that is considered auditory epilepsy, like certain frequencys would trigger it with me.i dont really understand what people mean when they say auditory hallucinations, that term is unfamiliar to me,so basically i just wanna let people know that your not alone in this and i know what its like all to well to suffer from this, theres been times when i wouldnt leave my apartment for long periods of time for fear i would have a seizure in public and pass out unconciouss and be emberassed from it,so i wish the best to anyone that is afflicted with this, yours trully jesse stoffel.

I only have auditory...I don't want to call them hallucinations, because they aren't. It's all music that I've heard before, at church, or on the radio somewhere. It's more like a musical memory overload. I remember the first time I lost conciousness because of it. I was at a gas station and I woke up with a huge lump on my head in an ambulence. When I tried to explain it to my doctor, he looked at me and said "You hear singing and music that isn't really there?" Like I was totally insane. It's so frustrating to know WHAT it feels like, but have no way of describing it to people who have no idea!! But no, you aren't alone.

TJS: My first seizure (tonic clonic variety) was at age 11. I am 50 now. I was going through puberty at the time. At some point before that first seizure I had auditory hallucinations that were musical. This was in the form of a choir singing. I did not tell my parents, but told the doctor at that time, mind you this was 1969. His comment was that sometimes when people are going through puberty, with or w/o seizures, they can experience these auditory hallucinations. I am guessing there is a hormonal connection it that case. I still can hear noises if I am tired enough. The mind is a powerful tool, and we have more control over it than we realize. Sometimes we get so caught up in our fears, we ignore our creative abilities. No you are not losing your mind. Try to adopt some relaxation techniques that will calm your mind, and you will realize that your fears are taking you for a ride. Panic has a way of blowing situations out of proportion. I feel strongly about the connection between creativity and people who have seizures. I have come to this conclusion after wasting a lot of years being afraid. Bottom line, relax or get busy. This is not a dress rehearsal, this is the only life we get, use it to the fullest extent of your abilities! Take care - Gwen
