A Mushroom ???
Thu, 09/13/2007 - 17:29What is this that I hear people talk about not eating muchrooms. I have stopped drinking and it has helped a little but I still eat muchrooms. If there is any truth to this I will stop this as well but would first like to find out if it is so??

i hate mushrooms. try to avoid them at all costs actually... i don't even know why...... the texture maybe... spongey.... ewwwwwwww
.... and yet i love mushroom soup.... i pick out the mushrooms :P

Johan, I believe you misunderstood. Different foods will affect people differently. Alcohol is not good to mix with your meds, but as far as foods go, that is something you will have to figure out if something is bothering you. Walt was talking about the natural msg that he said occurs in mushrooms. He didn't say what kind, and there are many varieties that are edible. It may just be an allergic reaction he has to them that are a trigger for seizure activity. If you have been eating mushrooms and doing fine, don't worry about it. If you notice that when you eat them, you are more prone to any activity, then avoid them. I personally am allergic to msg, but have never had a problem with mushrooms ever... These are the food type mushrooms we are talking about,not the other kind! So, I guess the question is: have mushrooms ever bothered you? It's like everything else, not everything works for everyone and not everyone has reactions to everything that affects another person. My husband loves mushrooms and I have never seen them to be a problem for him, he has had epilepsy for 34 years. Good luck, Kathy
