Moderate Cerebellar Atrophy

Sun, 05/07/2017 - 13:28
New to the forum. I was diagnosed with Epilepsy about 35 years ago. Been taking Dilantin for 30. No seizures in over 20 years. However, I was just informed I have moderate Cerebellar Atrophy. No symptoms. Have a Neuro that specializes in Epilepsy. This potential ailment was just diagnosed Friday afternoon (5-5-17). Obviously, I have to get off Dilantin. Dilantin has been great for me, but now it has been tied to C.A. Already tried Zonegram (while still taking Dilantin). Didn't work. Couldn't sleep. Guess some of my many questions are: Does anyone here suffer from Cerebellar Atrophy and have symptoms? If so, what do you do to slow down the atrophy (if anything is possible)? Can you lead a normal life? I played college football and have always worked out and eat right. This was quite a shock. I'm going to ask my Neuro to look at the images (my longtime GP ordered the MRI). Should I be doing anything else? Just nervous as can be right now. Thanks so much.

I have been taking Dilantin for 19 years, just diagnosed with cerebral atrophy. Find out any information?
