Memory Loss After Siezures??

Sun, 11/05/2006 - 15:31
My husband was siezure free for almost 2 years. Last week, he had a flurry of siezures (6 within two days) and now he can't remember anything. I know it's normal for him to not remember the actual siezures and sometimes what he was doing before he had them. But he is experiencing memory loss. We took a vacation with a few frieds about 4 weeks ago and now he can't remember anything about that trip. I showed him pictures from the trip and he is looking at them like the people in the pictures are strangers. Has any one else experienced anything like this? If so, how long did the memory loss last?

I too experinced memorey loss after my second seizure, actually even after the first one (couldn't remember that) At first I was losing days and weeks at a time. My wife would mention things to me or tell me something we/I did and I would look at her like she was from mars. It did scare me at first, but it did improve and I don't seem to have that problem anymore. It was weird though, I had no problem remembering things,10,20 or even thirty years ago, but recent memories were a blur at best. I hope your husbands situation also improves too. I am thankful I don't remember some of the things people have told me I did during/after the seizures, not very nice if you know what I mean.

I'm sorry to hear your husband is having this problam . I have experienced something in the line of that . He needs to be check by his doctor , they are two things that can cause majore memory loss Majore siezure to the temporol lobe area / which controls the right temporol lobe helps us remember things , other parts of the same lobe involves smells, emotions, memory The inside (mesial)part of the lobe is often the source of siezures. Or it could be medicens that are interacting with that part of the brain and it does not matter how long you have been on that meds eiather because my memory lost is a result of meds but my speech is slurred to .Does your husband haave any other problams than memory ? He might need to be checked by his nero. If you go to the epilpsy resource libreary on this site you might be able to find some info you need to help your husband , thats where I got most of mine it really helps . I know this frusterating for the both of you , it has been for my husband and myself . Hope I could have helped some my hope goes out to you and your husband .
