"Long Term Memory" Loss

Mon, 09/11/2017 - 14:23
Hi Everyone! Has anyone experienced memory loss because of epilepsy? I have JME but wasn't diagnosed until after I had three grand-mals in early adulthood. After figuring everything out, I realized that I had been having myoclonic jerks for as long as I could remember. I know that the medication that I am on affects my short term memory but has anyone experienced great memory loss after having seizures? I don't remember much in my life before I had the three seizures. It was like my childhood through high school years were completely erased. Sometimes friends and family will tell me things that happened and they sound familiar but other than that, I can't recall full memories. Someone could make up a story and I would probably go along with it. Maybe this is normal or due to me growing older. I also had some pretty traumatic things happen to me in high school so I suppose I could be suffering from some minor PTSD. I just wanted to see if anyone else experienced anything like this. Thank you! Sara
