Live in CA - ? regarding suspended license

Wed, 09/05/2007 - 19:49
I currently have complex partial seizures. I was diagnosed in April 2006. I have only had four seizures since then, the last being in early june 2007. My original neurologist never reported anything to the DMV. I saw a neurosurgeon this week (which is another story). He said I should not be driving. He says to expect a letter from DMV that will suspend my license, probably until I show no seizures for three months. My question is this, is it three months from the date of my last seizure or three months from the actual date of suspension? If it is from the date of suspension, I really intend to challenge it. If anyone (in California )can just give me some insight as to how this works, I would truly appreciate it.

I know this is an old post, but I’m looking for some clarity on the current California laws. I keep getting inconsistent answers. I had one seizure in September, all my tests were fine. It was likely a new migraine medication I had taken or from the high levels of stress I was under at the time. Anyway, my neurologist signed the paper and the drivers safety office has the paperwork. They have told me it will take 3 weeks to evaluate it and decide if I need a hearing. If I need a hearing they are scheduling them 3 months out. I’m so frustrated, it has been 5 months already and nothing is wrong with me. Has anyone experienced this? Any idea if they will require a hearing? Thanks!

I know this post is over a year old, but I wanted to post anyway in case you see this.  I also have my license suspended due to having 1 seizure.  My car insurance rate through Infinity has gone sky high now.  I tried explaining to them that it was a medical suspension and was not a reflection of my driving, as I've had no tickets, etc. for more than 5 years.  I am currently fighting with them because I feel it's discrimination.  We are not in the same classification as someone who got a DUI or too many traffic violations.
