A lifelong battle

Tue, 12/15/2015 - 17:34

Hey everyone,

I had my first tonic clinic seizure at 18months old. Up till puberty I had around 5 or 6 a year. Tests revealed nothing wrong. I had a break for a few year before it started up again around 18. They got progressively more frequent until age 24 when I started on 100mg Lamotrigine.

I had a tonic clinic seizure in 2010, then nothing till 2013. I had another yesterday. After my seizure in 2013 I had an MRI test when didn't show anything unusual.

So now I am 29 still experiencing or with the potential to have tonic clinic seizures with (hopefully) no new physical causes. There is no history of epilepsy in the family.

How normal is it really to have epilepsy without any known cause?
