life right now
Thu, 04/27/2006 - 09:41i have had epilepsy for 21 yrs and am going thru major depression right now . I am about to lose my job due to outsourcing and i have lost my previous job due to discrimination over my epilepsy after 19 yrs and 9 months.If there are any suggestions out there i live in philadelphia,pa and could really use some support.

thank you for your response things are realy ugly right now and i am just trying to hang in there . Things will turn around some day til i just have to keep fighting.

living right outside of philadelphia and had epilepsy 15 years.life aint so hot for me neither.
You ever want to meet or just chat in the chatroom,let me know.its been a long time since ive met another from the site with e.
a bit depressed here too.neurologist has me on meds that help.they controle emotions but depression is there just as memories.

p.s. the only support group i know of is at jefforson university though i never go there for anything.university of penn is my hospital.could be a big step if you want to team up and start a group.i know everyone at upenn and they will help us in any way with enough epileptic people wanting a group.

Hi Kevin, and welcome to the site. I can certainly empathize with you on both the depression and employment issues. This is a great place to meet new people and get lots of helpful advice and support. You might want to check out the local Philadelphia Epilepsy Foundation website, for resources close to home. Their website is at http://www.efsepa.org/ . I'm not sure if they have local support groups, etc., but it might be worth looking into.
