Life after brain surgery

Tue, 02/14/2017 - 12:13
My husband is 48 years old and had brain surgery to help with his seizures. The surgery was in August 2016. They removed the hippocampus and the amygdala from the left temporal lobe. So far, 6 months after surgery, my husband is still not doing the greatest. He continues to have seizures multiple times a week, and he has no ambition. His emotions are a roller coaster ride. Just looking for anyone else out there that has gone through the same surgery. Any comments would be appreciated.

I had brain surgery when I

I had brain surgery when I was 16 and again when I was 26. Both times, they were trying to remove the left temporal lobe because that was causing the seizures I was having. But because they tried those years, they still hadn't come up with the right ways to do it without taking the chances where I wouldn't be possibly losing the ability to speak and the left side of the body would have been fully paralyzed. Now, that  they have the ability with more knowledge of it, the doctors are trying to get me to try a third time. I feel now that I am still working, walking fine, and living a regular life, even though a still have some seizures but not as many as I used to, I'd rather not still take that chance.

I had brain surgery in 1991 at Cleveland clinic. Growth found deep in the left temporal lobe. Been seizure free now for 27 years. Highly recommend them!
