I'll bite i dont feel normal with out it    At least you HAD one. i dont feel normal with out it....      If you were diagnosed with epilepsy and your license was taken away have you done any research on the types of epilepsy you have ot the kind of seizures you might have??? Are you thinking only if yourself and comparing what they have to what you have? Each state has time limits a person can go without a seizure before they can get their license back. HAve you checked with your state yet?  Have you done any research on your own to see what it will take to get your license back? People in here commenting to posts like yours  want to help and many will post with answers because they research issues they of their family members had dealt with. I answer posts with issues I have lived and dealt with in the 50+ years I have had and dealt with epilepsy. Have I ever driven? NO Do I know how to drive? YES and I can drive and will drive in case of an emergency.  Am I normal? YES I can do anything others can do actually and in some cases better. Will I do those things in reality? NO there are limits to things each person can and can't do. Does the person with a heart ailment have problems that limit him from doing things? In some cases YES. You are not using common sense. Laws and regulations are written not to hinder you. They are written to protect the public. Now think for a few minutes. What would happen if you were driving and had a seizure of any kind. If it lasted seconds long and you were in traffic could that cause a traffic accident which could injure or kill someone??  I have always wanted a drivers license and was taught to drive. I was diagnosed with grand mal, petite mal and focal motor epilepsy. The diagnosis was long before they came up with types of epilepsy and all the kinds of seizures they have today.I am well old enought to be your grandfather since I have been living and dealing qwith epilepsy for 50+ years. What you have been dealing with is nothing to what we dealt with back in the 1960's when people with epilepsy were still being put away in homes. In the 1970's some states were still keeping people with epilepsy from getting a marriage license. Time limits on the time it takes before you can get a license or get one back were years rather tehen months. Do some research and fimd out about the epilepsy you have and the kind of seizures you could have. Once yo uhave those answers you might see that you might get your license back once you go 6 months without a seizure. An that 6 months is being done every day by someone. I hope this helps and you get youe liscense back and you get seizure free Joe

I had my license taken away

I had my license taken away years ago and yes, I miss my independence and no, I don't feel normal without them. But, I know that it was the right thing to do because my last wreck could have been a disaster. I crossed the oncoming traffic and kept on going until I crashed into some gas pumps at a service station. Luckily, no one was hurt and there was no fires, but I think of everything that could have happened but didn't and I realized I should not be driving again. Suppose I had hit and killed someone crossing that oncoming traffic and suppose those gas pumps had exploded and killed innocent people. I couldn't live with myself if that had happened. This is something we all need to think about if our seizures are not controlled before we drive.
