Language: Speaking and Writing

Tue, 06/02/2015 - 11:32

I've noticed lately that I have had trouble speaking and writing. I have trouble enunciating my words. When I speak, I have to pause for split second to think about what I'm going to say. My voice has also changed. It's almost hard to speak. I feel like my throat is closing when I speak and it's difficult to get sound out. I have not had this problem in the past. I've been able to enunciate and articulate. It's embarrasing when I'm at work and have to speak to someone or to a group.

I also have been writing words incorrectly. For example, I was writing the word mother and ended up writing moter instead. It's an easy word. I know how to spell it, yet, I spelled it wrong. I have never had trouble spelling or writing before.

Has anyone had this happen? I would love to hear your experience, what it was that caused you to have these symptoms, and what you've done to address it.

I have complex and simple partial seizures. I am currently on 500 mg of Lamictal a day but admittedly have not been consistent with taking my medicine. I am going to see a neurologist at the end of July and plan to mention this but I am itching to find an answer sooner.

Answers to this issue could be harder to come up with.I had problems when I first started taking medicines and having seozires. Ny reading became slower. My writing actually sped up and in some cases the sleed cause mispelling like the word mother you posted. I slowed down my writing. I still misspell and have never changed that issue. If people can understand what I say or post then my point is made. As for my reading Like I posted above it got slower. Like took a long tiime to research for am essay. But after reading slow I was able to almost recite things verbatum.  It has always been a give and take issue and in order to resolve issues you learn how to do things differently in order to get the speed back upp or the writting slower.
