Lamictal and Provigil?

Tue, 05/13/2014 - 20:37

Has anyone been on Lamictal and Provigil at the same time?  I have been on Lamictal for about 3 years and it works pretty well.  However, my doc suggested also taking Provigil to help with always being tired, distracted and having a bad memory.  Have you had any positive or negative effects from taking both at the same time?

Which doctor prescribed this

Which doctor prescribed this medication?? Your PC or your neurologist? PROVIGIL is a prescription medicine used to improve wakefulness in adults who experience excessive sleepiness (ES) due to one of the following diagnosed sleep disorders: obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), shift work sleep disorder, also known as shift work disorder, or narcolepsy. The medication can work at stopping people from being tired a lot of the  time. If a person has marcolepsu (seizures during their sleep which takes a lot of energy out of a person it can help. As for medications being added to your medications all your doctors need to know all the medications you take. That would include all your over the counter medications too since medications can counter other medications. As for coupling medications there is no problem in doing it and some people have better seizure control by taking 2 medicines. If both medicines were prescribes by your neurologist then by all means take them since he is the doctor trying to stop your seizures and keep you from being too tired.. I hope this helps  Joe

No problem. I also know that

No problem. I also know that some GP's will prescribe medications not knowing they might counter other medications which is why all your doctors need to know all the medications you take.provigil might help several ways since it is also a AED and used for people with sleep issues. It has agents in it that counter seizures and agents that keep you from being tired. I have taken more then 1 medication like 3-4 aed's and yes one was for sleep issues. But that was long ago. Considering I was in my early 30's back then. It did help some but I stopped taking it because I wanted better control of my seizures. I have seen people sya they don't like medications since they might lose their hair. Well hair loss is a side effect to some medications. For me I would rather stop the seizures completely then get a medication that doesn't stop seizures and I still have hair. Which would you take a medication that has a possiability of hair loss or not taking it because you might lose some hair?? With me the answer is simple. I can either shave my head or get a wig or hair piece. Hey shaved heads look cool on sone men. Or a real short burr, Hell i had a flat top when I was a kid.... Oops giving my age out with that one Good luck and I do hope you get the assistance you need Joe
