Knot on forehead that will not go away

Thu, 10/19/2006 - 06:25
SUMMARY: Diagnosed with Epilepsy at the age of 11 yrs old and went for many years only taking one (1) medication: Depakote. I now take (12) pills per day: Depakote 4x; Keppra 2x; Phenobarbital 4x; Xanax 2x; I went for about 10yrs w/o any problems, but when I turned 27yrs old, I am constantly having them! It seems to be taking over my life and I am very upset about this. Any advise would be GREATLY appreciated! Anyways....... I had ANOTHER grand mal seizure approximately 2-3 weeks ago and fell and hit my head. I also broke my nose and now I have 2 lovely prominent black eyes! I cannot recall every step of what happened this day....and anyone with Epilepsy knows what I mean by this. All I can recall is that I was lying down on the couch and woke up underneath the coffee table with blood coming from my nose. Come to find out, I broke my nose and I now have a very noticeable knot in the center of my forehead. However, this knot is not going away! I am scared and was wondering if anyone has had this happen to them before. I need to know if this is normal and if so will it eventually go away?

I don't know if this will help at all, but here's a little info. I had a sz at work 3 weeks ago and, while standing, fell and hit my head on a table thus sustaining a concussion and a black eye. The only difference is that I was taken to the hospital (trauma unit because of the head injury)so I received medical treatment almost immediately. I can tell you the black eye is barely noticable now, but I still have a lump on my temple, and it hurts to the touch (I keep forgetting about it too...OUCH!!). I remember almost nothing about that day so my room mate just advised me that the hospital staff could not put ice on it the first day, because I kept having GM sz's and they couldn't keep me still long enough (I assumed they put something on it). Hope it gets better, pain and bruises are no fun, Susan
