Is this indicative of a night time seizure?

Mon, 01/12/2015 - 09:01

I am currently working with my neuro to figure out what is going on with me. I went and had an EEG and had a seizure in my sleep so they started me on Lamictal to "see how that goes". I have now been noticing signs of these nocturnal seizures -- waking up with the inside of my cheek bitten, very achy, pillows & blankets thrown across room. One thing I've been wondering about that I've been feeling for a little while only upon waking (and it's not every night), I will sometimes feel like my eyes are very tired. It literally feels like I have slept with my eyes open all night. Not necessarily a DRY feeling, my eyes will just feel really tired. Could this be indicative of some sort of night time seizure?

Hello. I read your post. I could not say for sure if your eyes feeling really tired is a sign you had a seizure during the night. I am wondering, how many seizures have you had before they started you on Lamictal? Only the one during the EEG? If that is the case, the doctors usually wait until the person has 3 seizures before they prescribe any anti seizure medication. I have grand mal seizures only in my sleep. I know I have had a seizure during the night by how I feel in the morning when I wake up. The right side of my tongue is bitten, my legs are sore and I have a bad headache and bad stomach nausea as well. A lot of the time I am also confused when I wake up. You need to have your nero dr. give you a 24 hour EEG during the night and video tape it. That would show if you are truly having seizures during the night. I never had a 24 hour video EEG during the night, but my ex boyfriend has witnessed my grand mal seizures I have only while sleeping since they first started in 2009. Well I hope you find out if you have seizures during the night. Good luck!
