I'm an epileptic

I'm a male from England, just turned 34 and I've been epileptic for roughly 10 or so years. It all started when I was doing some DTP work on a Mac at college and I hadn't eaten for hours on end. One moment I was feeling queasy, the next thing I know is that I'm waking up surrounded by people and I end up in hospital for a few days and told later on that I'm an epileptic. My epilepsy mainly seems to be the photosensitive kind and it's been triggered off by flashing lights in games like Climax Landers for the Dreamcast and the original Lunar the Silver Star for the Mega-CD but it's also been triggered off by overheating. I've even lost a job thru my epilepsy and even tho I clearly told the employers concerned that I was epileptic, they hardly helped me out and ended up sacking me even tho they were in the wrong and when I tried to sue them, my solicitor made a mess of things. One of my girlfriends was understanding about my epilepsy when I told her that I was one but I have a feeling she left me because she couldn't cope with me being one. But right now, I'm upset at CDS, the housing association that own both the new property that I moved into last week and the property that I shared with my late grandmother as they cheated me out of my previous home by claiming that I wasn't disabled enough and taking advantage of my grief when in fact according to the Disability Discrimination Act of 2005, epilepsy DOES count as a disability so now I'm planning on taking CDS to court not only to get my property back, but also to claim financial compensation. There are days when I wish I wasn't epileptic but I guess I have to live with this for the rest of my life even tho I'm fortunate not to have attacks on a daily basis like some people do.

hello, Over here in the states epilepsy counts as a disabilty too if you can prove you have it pretty bad.Dont quote me but its something like one grand mal in the last 6 months or 2 or more petit mals per week. I could qualify. They want videos of seizures and a doc who stand up for you or write a note.So far I have been too proud and would rather just work when I can . I am starting to get to the point where I am going to have to go for it though.

My last attack was in December and I confess that I'm guilty of feeling too proud to claim disability benefits although I'm considering doing so now that I need extra money to live on. Meanwhile I have to look for a solicitor in Liverpool to take on my case because none of the solicitors here are of any use as far as suing CDS are concerned, especially the firm that I was planning on going with as they represent CDS themselves... I'm not going to give up and plan on fighting to get what's rightfully mine...
