How do you know if you have had a seizure in your sleep?

Hi, This is my first time posting. I started having absence seizures last year and after tests was put on tegretol. After working up my dosage my liver had a reaction so I have been changed to Kepra and have just in the past few days went up to 2 tablets in morning and 2 at night. I think I have had a tonic clonic seizure in my sleep. I feel like I can remember some of it like my legs clenched and zapping. When I woke up one side of my face was covered with saliva and I started walking around my house frantically. Now my jaw feels like it has been punched for days. I have never had a tc seizure before, is this even possible to go from absences to tc? My absences were worst when I hadn't slept well and up until falling asleep before this I had only slept for about 3 hours in the past 48. I am randomly having jolts in my arms and legs. Does anyone have experience of this? I know there are probably other posts similar but I am terrified to look. Can seizures change from absences to tc and why?

well, I would first check you were diagnosed with absence seizures as carbamazepine can aggravate absence, it is not close to the top choices for absence. Carbamazepine is usually given for partial seizures. complex partials can seem like long absences. If one has generalized seizures other than TCs or partial seizures then one could have TCs. Not everyone does but lots do.

people can have more then one

people can have more then one type of seizure. What epilepsy were you diagnosed with is the question you need answered. When I was diagnosed they didn't have all the types they have today. I had absence seizures a few times but I also had focal seizures which today could land in any partial and they generalized and I had a grand mal also so I had almost all of the main seizures listed.
