HOMELESS, UNEMPLOYED & EPILEPTIC,,,

Sun, 06/11/2006 - 18:38
I never knew what seizures were nor did I cared to know what epilepsy was all about even when my wife constantly kept nugging me that I'm having Grand-Mal seizures while I'm asleep. I continued to rudicle & tell my wife that she must be having nightmares simply because I never had seizures before, I never knew what seizures are & when I was having seizures I never woke up from my deep sleep, except offcouse when I had to go to work, 5.00am every morning. As far as I was concerened, all was just fine, just like it has always have been nor did can I care to trace that I just had a Grand Mal seizure. These went on for almost 2 years but the seizures were not either frequent enough or my wife may have been just asleep as much as I was when some of the seizures struck. Then in the summer of 1999, in broad day light after work at a coffee shop, where I hung around clowning with my bodies, again, my Grand-mal epileptic seizure struck, sent me striaght to hospital emergency room. Waking up with all the Doctors, nurses, brother & friends roaming around my bed and gush to my fore head, for I fallen face down, violatly sjhaking & rubbing against the rough floor of the coffee shop. Neurologiists ordered 300mg of Dilantin daily , MRI-TEST, CT-Scan, EKG ,,, etc, tests 7 examnations later Sorry I will contunie with my story,,, my library Computer time is up.

Dear Ghebre - I'm epileptic, was already disabled by epilepsy and with all we had left we bought a very used RV so we'd always have a home as we'd been having financial struggles, this would end our housing worries, we sold our car since we only have one functioning driver and then the RV engine blew up. It wasn't warranteed and literally we found ourselves sitting on high school bleachers wondering - what in the world do we do. I'll tell you, I was so terrified the organization of my thoughts went to h*ll. Same for my husband. We had spent all we had, made careful plans because we didn't have much. We had already gone through a tough time after I was diagnosed, we thought at last, we're on our way up. A lot of people we met were in our situation. Good people like us, maybe you, who found out how fragile our lives can be. It still boggles me. But we did struggle out of it. We pulled our lives back together, in little steps. We organized what was most important. We argued about that - transportation or housing. By then? I honestly was used to camping outside, we got a little bit of donated money from the American Red Cross, we were not close to our home, we were moving elsewhere when the engine blew so my husband did temporary jobs for horrible pay but it was pay. We bought a car and I feel from there we kept adding necessary things back to our lives. We tried some things that didn't work but we found that out too, we didn't die from making a wrong decision. There is help out there like for us the American Red Cross had money at that time, not much, but it was enough. There are other places if you live in the US who will give you a boost. Not much money is out there but it's there. You have to know where it is. Find out where you live who knows where it is. Tell me. Do you live in the United States? If you do I can tell you of resources we used, helped us get back on our feet, and now we donate to them. Not a lot, we don't have a lot, but I have learned who and what to be thankful for. I don't think I knew before. Not really. I found out too unfortunately who is not going to help you. Gretchen
