Hi I am New to the Board

Hi My name is Michelle. But alot of people call me Shelly. I have had generalized tonic-clonic seizures which start off as temporal lobe complex partial seizures since 1994. I was at the start of my last semester of college when I had my first grand mal seizure. But as I did more research I realized that I have been having seizures all of my life. I am a mother of two teenage boys. My oldest boy is a sophomore in high school and plays the trumpet in the school band. My youngest one is in the eighth grade and lives for his football. I live in Calais, ME which is right on the Canada Border so he plays in a league that includes both American and Canadian kids and we travel to St. John and Moncton for his games. We go every Sunday. I have been married for 9 years and am in the process of planning on a renewal of vows for next July. It is important to me because I just meet my biological Dad last Father's Day for the first time and we have really connected and I would like to have a ceremony where I can have him give me away. Since he and I have been united he has been here for me more than my own mother has been my whole life. In addition to my epilepsy I also suffer from severe depression which they are having problems controling because of interactions with my seizure meds. I have been hospitalized many times for my seizures and there severity. I just recently spent about three weeks in a hospital in southern maine where they tried to get a better diagnosis about what is happening and regulating my medications. Needless to say they did a better job then others but my dr. still isn't happy with my seizure activity (4-5 a week) therefore I am headed down to Boston Med at some point.
