HELP!!!!

Fri, 04/14/2006 - 11:44
In january of 2006 I found out I was 4 months pregnant while on 1500 mg of depakote. The doctors thought I became pregnant due to the high dosage of depakote that I was on,and it reversed the effects of my birth control pills, anyways serious complications arose, and my husband and I had to make the painful decision to terminate. Anyways, when I found out I was pregnant,I panicked and stopped taking the my medications, and have not been back on them since. But now I am experiencing memory lapses, moodiness, and depression(and of course my seizures are back) but I'm terrified to go back on my medication and become pregnant again. I just don't think mentally I can handle it again. Is there herbs or a non-medicine way to control seizures and these withdrawl symptoms that I am having?

Hi Sonia, There are different sz drugs that do not interfere with birth control, I believe Lamictal is one of them. Also, there is an IUD that emits only enough hormone to reach the ovaries to prevent ovulation, then as a second line of prevention it does not allow implantation should fertilization occur. I have several friends who have them and feel great because they don't even have the moodiness of monthly cycles because the body is somewhat post-menopausal while in use. Ask your doctor about this type of IUD. It is a great alternative to having to use systemic hormones yet prevents pregnancy in the same way. They last 5 years but can be removed at any time.

Hi, I am an epileptic so I advise you to BACK ON YOUR MEDS. Then sit down with your doctor and find out what meds you can take for your epilepsy that will hopefully have not effect on your child if you should choose to have a child. You also need to make sure any meds. you take do not effect your child control medication. I know doctors say this certain drug can have no effect on this drug. Well why do dugrs have side effects? My last suggestion is, HAVE YOUR HUSBAND WEAR A RAIN COAT. I am male, so he does not need to say the RAIN COAT takes away sensitivity from his second brain. Just tell him the plus to that is his little brain will last longer and you will have a more BIG O VISITS. Good Luck. NaBox
