Getting Depressed Due To My Epilepsy

Sun, 03/25/2007 - 18:21
My name is Rena & I live in Hawaii. I'm 26 & I've had epilepsy since 2000. I have complex partial seizures. I've been getting depressed in the past 2 months because my epilepsy is getting worse. I haven't found a medication that can control my seizures. The side effects from the medications that I'm on bother me everyday. I'm having a few seizures every week now. I have no social life, I've lost many friends. I can't drive. I can barely hold on to my job. I'm missing so much work because of my seizures. I depend on my parents for many things. I'm 26 but I feel like I'm living the life of a 17 year old. It's so hard feel me to deal with this because I have nobody to talk to, nobody who has epilepsy & knows exactly how I feel. I'm getting depressed very often. I don't want to fall into a deep depression. I need the support & advice from others. That's why I'm here. So...if you have some great advice & things to say, go ahead! I'd really appreciate it. Aloha!

I know what you mean I don't know about everyone else but I can say for myself I've been there. I am 22, married w/2 boys. But I rememmber my college yrs not being able to drive heck I still can't. I finally have a license for the first time in my life. but was having problems so wasn't driving. It doesn't seem fair and can get depressing I try not to think about it and do lots of things you enjoy. I'm a cat person and love the outdoors so I always went out to pet my cats I'd even talk to them it made me feel better like someone understood cause I knew no human did. Hold you chin up don't let the enemy destroy you. you have a purpose, I think alot of us end up being inspiration to others we help them see they can accomplish things because we finally over yrs took one more step closer to our dreams even through all the difficulty.

hi, No it's not fair and yes it does get depressing.ManI'm 53 and I don't know if I'll ever be able to drive again. My wife is gone most of the week on her job and I need my daughter to drive me places or to the store most of the time to get things done or buy stuff for projects around the house. But I'm not giving in and I'm not giving up.
