Forceps Delivery- hmmmmm.....

Sun, 10/15/2006 - 23:57
Anyone else that was delivered this way? My mum was put under general anesthesia (she has no idea why) and they pulled me out with forceps. It just so happens that the forceps instruments themselves tend to pluck the baby out at the temple area of their head. Compression injury to the temporal region of the brain isn't uncommon, which is why today vacuum delivery is considered safer. I wonder if this is how the left temporal area of my brain could have been injured? Could this a possible etiology of my TLE? anyone have any thoughts on this?

My 42 yr old daughter died

My 42 yr old daughter died from "Epilepsy/Complications Of Epilepsy" per coroner, this past Thanksgiving Night. She was described as a low forcep delivery. She had a small knot on the left side of her head that went away by 2 months of age.The Dr stated it was from her rubbing my pelvis during pregnancy. We really didn't buy it but it went away so we let it go at that point. The grand mal seizures started in her teens. She was born in Harlan Ky, I was heavily sedated & in 4 way restraints! It was a nightmare,I seen her for the 1st time thru the nursery glass as I was wheeled to my room but wasn't allowed to hold her till after 24 hours? Crazy!

I recently had surgery for my TLE. Physical  Injury from forceps was identified in the exact area my seizures were originating. This area was also likely responsible for my much less frequent nocturnal only  grand mal seizures that began at age 16. Seek 2nd opinions and possible surgery from the most highly ranked Epilepsy hospitals in the nation.
