Feeling the aura and somehow prevent the seizure?

Thu, 09/08/2016 - 17:48
Hi. I am new here, and registered because I actually never talked with anyone who has epilepsy. I am 33 and had my first seizure 3 years ago (grand mal). I think I am lucky, as I've had "only" two seizures since then from which once during sleep. But I have a maybe stupid question: I remember my first seizure, and I was conscious for a couple of seconds at the beginning, when I felt, like the title of the U2 song: "stuck in a moment". Anyways: After that I just passed out. But the interesting thing is, that I felt that feeling later maybe two times, and I think that somehow I could stop the seizure to develop. At the moment I felt it I started to drink water. I don't know if I really prevented the big seizure, or the strange feeling was actually a small seizure, but I feel somehow, that if I wouldn't try to make my brain busy with activity which is done unconsciously (e. g. drinking) and just leave and let it happen, it would be a grand mall. But doing this I just had the strange feeling for a couple of seconds and got back. And I did not have seizure later. Did anyone else have this kind of experience? Does it make sense? Can we actually get ot of that moment we are stuck in?

Auras are seizures themselves

Auras are seizures themselves. For many they are basically warnings of a larger seizure happening. So those feeling are warnings of you possibly having one of the seizures you have posted about
