Epilepsy or PNES OR BOTH??

This is for my boyfriend..
As a child he was diagnosed with Epilepsy... for a few years he had no seizures at all.. then they came back. He went back to the doctor and they told him that his seizures weren't registering any brain activity .. and they told him he didn't have epilepsy.. he has lost hope and isn't taking any kind of medication for seizures.. he has seizures in his sleep.. which makes me believe it's not PNES... sometimes during he seizures he is able to talk to me.. and sometimes he says he can feel them coming on.. I need help for him...
