Epilepsy & Life Insurance

Thu, 08/14/2014 - 13:47

I am 27 years old and was diagnosed with JME when I was around 18. I've never had a tonic clonic seizure, only the myoclonic jerks and I haven't had these since I started medicine when I was 18. I am wondering if it is going to be impossible for me to get a good rate on life insurance. I don't think my epilepsy is life threatening at all but I don't know if that matters.  Thanks.

Merealoaded nailed it. Generally if you are young most carriers will not be asking for medical information. If they do and see you have been seizure free for years they also take that into effect. When I was your age it was alot different even got regular insurance. I paid a higher premium and for the first 6 months to a year my epilepsy was not covered. After that it was covered and my premium was lowered some.
