Epilepsy getting WORSE!

Fri, 09/25/2015 - 17:07
I first starting have nocturnal seizures at the age of about 12/13 Remained on medication until the age of about 18 when I moved overseas and the neurologist said that I didn't have epilepsy and to come off medication, I did as I was told. Many years passed by fine then after an extremely stressful period in my life I had a tonic clonic, back on medication from the age of about 25, life continued and I must admit I was quite wasn't very strict on having my medication (false sense of security I guess) from around the age of 28 ish I started having little moments of being 'frozen' (eyes would close and could not move a muscle for about 5/10secs) this would occur sometimes during the day and every night whilst asleep, this was pretty much summed up as 'anxiety' and I was prescribed lexapro. Around this time I realised I wasn't really happy with my neurologist so went searching for a new one, booked an appointment but had a 12 month wait, so I continued to see my other neurologist in the mean time After about 3 months on lexapro I had 3 massive seizures and went to hospital! It appears that my neurologist did not take in to consideration that my lamictal should have been increased to counter the lexapro reducing the seizure threshold. Fortunately this all happened just around the time of when I was booked to see my new neurologist! Saw my new Neuro / went thru all the standard tests etc/ he also concluded from the 1st appointments that these 'freeze' issues were partial seizures and not panic attacks My MRI showed a little lesion on the brain (and he was surprised that it had been missed all these years!), this Neuro specialised in parkinson's so he referred me to a college who specialises in epilepsy So my case has been discussed and I was told I am a candidate for surgery so this year I have gone through the testing I had a 7 day hospital stay for the EEG and that has really affected my psychologically! In the past 8 weeks my partial seizures have decreased (every few days instead of daily) BUT are way more intense (lose consciousness) and I seem to have a constant 'tingling' sensation on my forehead / behind left eye I am being booked into see a psychiatrist and psychologist and anxiety seems to be a trigger So basically after 25 years of tolerable epilepsy my 'new ' symptoms have really made nervous! I know in epilepsy there are no exact answers but from living 25+ years ok with it and now these past 6 months have effected me emotionally Who else has worsened?
