Driving with Epilepsy

Fri, 08/29/2014 - 15:22

Recently I've been giving my rights to drive which has been a huge step being 19. But I don't feel comfortable driving because of me havint to wait for so long and my driving instructors having such little hope in me. I just wanted to share the app LYFT, where they provide free first rides up to 25$ more information at this link http://get.lyft.com/download/?code=lyfttampa . Make sure to use the code (LYFTTAMPA). I'm working on getting discounts with individuals with epilepsy because for me being without a car hinders me economically on a great level and could be for others as well.

So basically you can go take

So basically you can go take your driving tests and once passed you can drive. Cool. It is a step in the right direction for many. As for driving instructors welllllllll are they aware of the reason for your not having a license by now? If youy arent then they probably think you haven't passed your test and you might have been trying for some time now. I do know that people are hesitant or don't always feel comfortable driving after going so long without ever driving. I had gone 3+ years and was studying for my test when I had a seizure back in the 1970's, back then hte time period was over a year. As for the test I would have passed it with no problems since I have known how to drive and had driven in an emergency. Being without a car can be a hinderance to some people in some ways. As for being a hinderance economically I have had no problems. I use the bus and rail and get a discount on my passes. Monthly passes are deffinately cheaper then paying for the gas I would use. The only hinderance is waiting on the bus or rail. However I have friends that are generally going my direction or to the same stores. clubs, restaurants or other places.I have only been doing it for over 50 years now. Most transit companies give discounts to people with disabilities. A monthly pass costs me $40, I use the bus or rail daily and a day pass is $5 so I save money. When I was your age I had friends and yes we went clubing and enjoied ourselves almost every weekend. I rode with them and I bought them a beer or two. Have you checked with your trasnsit company? If not try since some cities people with disabilities get their passes free.

I was able to drive from 16 to 24 .  When I was driving I did have a seizure in the car and I did black out so I could not see at that time .  That is how my seizures are at this time , I am 40 now .
