We're discussing this on the Deja Vu-Please Explain discussion. Driving is a privilege, not a right. Yet, not everyone quits driving when they're advised to do so. If you don't have epilepsy, and don't have anymore seizures, it shouldn't be difficult to have your doctor reinstate your license, right? Six months isn't a long time in the span of your life. However, denial isn't a river in Egypt. I've met people who describe "things" that have happened to them and attribute these "things" to "stress". When I tell them that these "things" sounds like seizures to me, they don't go to doctor and don't tell people about these "things" something happens in public i.e. a seizure at work, a wedding, the kids' school, etc.

I agree 100% that having driven and lost the ability to drive is worse than never having driven before. However, as one who had a nice car accident due to having a seizure for the first time in a decade while driving, I can also promise you that going without driving for a mere 6 months definitely beats coping with having had a car accident. Best wishes and be glad the physician is attempting to prevent you from possibly having an accident and killing somone.

My Mom had her first seizure when I was 14 years old. She and I were in the car. I was sitting in the front passenger seat (something that would be illegal in many states today). My Mom was turning into our driveway when it happened. The car went up the curb, took out the mailbox and was heading for about 7 neighborhood kids who were playing in the yard. I was in the front seat. I didn't panic and I was able to get my foot on the brake in time. If I hadn't my Mom's first seizure would have ended the lives (plural) of 7 kids ranging in age from about 5 to 9. Don't drive if you have seizures, please.
