http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/surgery.htmlThere is lots of good info at the above website, which is actually a part of epilepsy.com. You can also go to www.efa.org and look for information there. Continuting to see if your child is a surgical candidate is a good choice. Hopefully, it will give you an option. Things have improved dramically over the last ten years, and at this point in time is the only possible cure available. Depending on what type of seizures and where they are located in the brain will determine if it is an option for you. If they are going to proceed with testing, that means there is a good chance he can be helped. They say the sooner surgery is done, the better the outcome. The only advise I can give you is to go to a good epilepsy center, with a good team of doctors. Get a couple opinions and get all the testing that is necessary done. All this takes lots of time, months... you may even be looking at almost a year before the procedure is actually scheduled. Also, go to www.epilepsy-surgery.com for more information.

Hi, My name is Rochelle and I live in Arkansas. After having seizures for 15 years I did go through the surgery. I was 23 and in college. They removed my right temprolobe. If you need any information I am more than happy to give it to you. It was the best thing that has ever happened to me. I am now 28 and have had 4 seizures in the last 5 years and they were so mild.

Hello Rochelle, My name is Lyndra and I live in Dallas. Thank you for the info. I am the one who's inquiring about the surgery. How can I find out where his seizures are coming from. They've already scheduled him for a(n) MRI and they have him scheduled for a(n) video eeg, now I've heard of an eeg before but not an video eeg. Did you have these test performed before having surgery. Also thank you for the website addresses. Rochelle, you say that you've only had 4 seizures in the last 5 yrs correct, so do you still have to take medication?
