RE: Falling Down

hi kb,my daughter experienced those same drop seizures. it was like she was about to go into a grand mal seizure - she would let out a groan and drop to the floor and then she would suddenly come out it. i explained it to her neurologist as the feeling you experience as you are falling asleep and feel like you are falling. her "drop" experiences happened when we were switching from tegratol (which she was allergic too) to dilantin. the dilantinl was not up to the correct level. we probably experienced four of five in a two day period, but once she was regulated on dilantin we have not seen them since. we are currently switching from dilantin to lamictal and still haven't seen any. they scared me because i thought here we go again with another seizure. as far as the paronia goes, i'd like to say it gets better. my daughter was diagnosed in sept 2004. until we got them controlled in oct, i worried everyday that she would fall somewhere and i couldn't keep her safe. after we got them controlled i was able to relax a bit, but two weeks ago she had her first seizure in 5 months, now all the paronia is back. we just try to do our best to keep her safe, but at the same time we need to let her be a kid and climb and explore things on her own. i still worry when she is swinging on the swing, but we just hope she will be okay. make sure you let her doctor know of these drops so they can make any adjustments. good luck!!

Some of the falls and tippying is from medication too. It can make you a little unbalanced.http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/EpilepsyApproach/Lisa
