Sleep and Apetite

Hi All: My husband got seizures 3 years back for the first time after 27 years (I was told he got once as kid). We were separated even before that due to other issues and was with him in hospital only during this hospital period. That time during discharge Dr told he will have normal life except he has to take medicines life long. Now after 3 years we are back united as a family but still separated. I live with his parents and he live in different city for work. I see major difference in his lifestyle. He sleeps a lot and eats a lot. He has gained lots of weight which might be due to his eating and sedentary lifestyle. His mother asks him to sleep most of the time in day if he visits home. She says he has to take rest because he is taking tablets and dont allow to even lift his own baggage. He is taking tegritol 200mg three times a day. He has his own agency but not so aggressive as I used to see him before. Just take calls and delegate work and sleeps. They are not sharing anything more and not available to visit Dr. They told he never got any incident of seizures later after the first incident. He told he will not be romantic when rejoining. I still not sure that romantic is physical relation. We are still kind of separated as told before. Is this a same with other epileptic patients who is on medicine? How as a wife I should take care of him (remotely) when someone is not ready to discuss their health? What I should know about epilepsy, seizures, side effects of medicines and their difficulties.

All I can say is he has to

All I can say is he has to want to rid of the seizures, you can support as much as you can. This is not easy to deal with, I know. I have somethings I would like to share that worked for me. May I suggest talking to your doctor about a med called LaMICtal, If that dose not work, I went a whole year without arua or seizures taking a martial arts class. It was not so much what I learned, the over 100 jumping jack, stretching, working my body at least 5 days a week.  You have heard it before," use it or lose it". Exercise make sense. As soon as I stopped everything came back with in a week. Good luck, life with out seizures can be amazing, always try new things don't let it win.
