Nocturnal seizures - waking up after

Sun, 10/25/2015 - 06:14

my husband was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was around 20. For the most part, he has nocturnal seizures. He hadn't had one for many years until tonight. About ten minutes or so after the seizure ended, he woke up (if you can call it that) very disoriented and incoherent. I was able to get him to lay back down eventually but not without a fuss. He was mad that I wouldn't let him go where he wanted.  I was concerned that he would fall down the stairs or hit his head. My question is this, are there any tips or tricks to dealing with someone waking up for a seizure so that you can keep them safe?  This is the second one that I have witnessed and would like to make sure I'm doing the right thing to keep him safe.

While I don't have nocturnal seizures I do get ticked off when someone tells me to sit down or go lay down. I know they are trying to keep me safe butttttttttttt I also have been independent all my life. So I do know what he is going thru. I generally end up sitting down and focusing and go back to what I was doing.

he needs to talk to his neurologist. If his dosage hasn't changed in years then adjustments may need to be made.Lots of things can change th theraputic levels. weight change, hormones and many others. I went 3+ years without any seizures and I had one. SO iscuss this with his neurologist, For all you know there may be a newer medication out that has fewer side effects
