new to all of this

Fri, 02/22/2013 - 21:55

I just wanted to introduce myself, and ask for your thoughts and opinions.

I’m very new to epilepsy and trying to learn all I can about it so I can support my Fiancé. He was always the strong one, the true cowboy, rode bulls in his younger days, and now does calf roping .He was  a trucker and hauled oversized, heavy loads for the oil companies.  He is 51 years old and has never been really sick except for this past December. He got pneumonia and with it a high fever. This triggered his epilepsy. He has now been put on meds, had his licence taken away, and lost his job.  He is having a very hard time with this and asked me for time, so he can figure things out for himself.  I agreed, I would do anything for him. But I worry about depression. He has gone from being “the man” to this… confused, angry, quiet person I do not know.

Have any of you dealt with this and if so how did you handle it?

I have not heard from him in three weeks, and I don’t want to push him. I want him to come to me when he is ready, but anything I should know, expect, say or do would really help. I’m feeling very alone in all of this and I can only imagine what HE is feeling.

Thank you  for reading.
