my husband outgrew CAE, I think he now has TLE.

Fri, 11/26/2004 - 12:25

my husband had childhood absence epilesy starting at age 6-7 and was given 500mg of dilantin per day till he was 12. his doctor remove him for it and said he had outgrown it. now he's 25 and i think he still has it and/or has temp lobe epilesy, because he still does the stare in to space and now has anger out burst that seem to be getting alot worse lately.

I've read that alot of men with TLE have hypogonadism a hormone problem with low testosterone levels, infertility, and impotence problems. we had been trying to conceive for 3 years and he has alot of symptoms of hyogonadism with low androgen/testosterone levels like impotence, man breast, and low sperm counts.

I'm trying to talk him into going to the a doctor for both problems but he thinks the epilesy has gone away and the fits of anger are really getting rediculous, he'll rage over the stupid stuff like when he can't find were he sat something (his memory is awfull) and he will acuse me "hiding it" and will rant until i find it. I really want him to go to the doctor! He's just not HIM any more.

Has anyone had CAE that turned in to TLE?

Has anyone with TLE been diagnosed with hypogonadism or low androgen/ testosterone levels? if so how was it treated?

When your husband stares does he smack his lips? Turn his head to one side? Disoriented after he comes out of the stare? have trouble speaking? If he's showing any of these signs then he PROBABLY does have TLE. He should have it checked either way by a true doctor regardless to determine it either way. I know it's mostly unlikely of it completely going away unless an operation was preformed, although there have been some cases. Usually at some point of a person life it returns.
