My 34 yr. old son has epilepsy from closed brain injury

Hi,I am new to this board and I am really so sad. My son, who is 34 had several motocross (I hate motorcycles!) accidents. They were quite serious. Broken legs, arms, steel plates, screws, etc....Now about a year ago he started having seizures. I think that he was having aura's for almost a year prior to the full blown seizures started! He would break out in cold sweats, vomit, have such severe stomach pain that he would end up on the floor in a fetal position and off to the ER.The doctor there......told him it was "acid reflux"......and then to top it off, gave him nitoglicern to put under his tongue when one of these started!!!!! Then my son started having the small seizures, just a blank look and drooling down the front of his shirt. These happened when he was on his way to work or during the day.FINALLY, one early morning he had a full tonic-colonic (SP?) seizure. Lasted for 3 to 5 mins. Thank God his wife works with disabled children and knew the basics of what to do....once the seizure was over she called 911. This has happen many times since! Sometimes he will sit and be talking and then start staring and just smacking his lips for a short time......and forget what we were talking about. He is seeing a neuro in Newport Beach CA and has been since the major seizure. She has upped his dilantian to a VERY high dosage and added Kepra, I don't know what the dosage is with that one.......Anyway, he is STILL having seizures, sometimes small, sometimes large....He is starting to studder some and has lost a lot of weight. And today I just found out that the neuro is not classifing his seizures as epilepesy..........I am astonished at this!!!! I really need some help or input for someone who knows about when the seizures become epelipsy and if anyone here has closed brain injury seizures........I am so worried about my son! He just seems to be going downhill and looks awful~! He has aged at least 5 years in the past 1 year! I have called all over So. CA to find a clinical trial or research trial for this.....I don't know if anyone here can help, but it is worth trying your message board! Oh, and pardon my spelling....I'm so dependent on spell check anymore.........lolGod Bless you all and thank you,Lindasue
