How to help kids cope with dad epilepsy

Thu, 11/17/2016 - 03:30
My husband was diagnosed with partial epilepsy in his teens. They had him taking keppra which he hates because it made him think crazy things but his Dr. insists that's what he needs to be on. He was almost 10 years seizure free off meds when a week before Xmas in 2015 he had a really bad 10 min grand mal. He had another in July and yesterday He had 3 seizures. My son who is 14 woke up to him seizing in Dec and was there for his most recent one. He was a huge help call 911 and helping keep his little sister away. I need help finding some support for us. I'm learning about epilepsy and what to do to help my husband but how do I help my kids cope with this. I'm scared to leave our daughter alone with her dad she's only 4 and wouldn't know what to do and my son fears that he will have one and I won't be here and that he won't be able to help him once he starts to come out of it. We have both taken first aid and CPR but I feel helpless. My friends and family don't understand how scary this is.
