Hi,
How long has your 7 yr old been on clobazam?
My son(now 4.5yrs old) was first treated with clobazam(stand alone), when his first seizures(simple partial) hit him at 24 months old. The meds seem to be controlling his seizures. He's had 2 breakthrough seizures, from my observation , I think it was due to stress to him and/or his liver breaking it down to fast.
Due to all the findings of long term effects with drugs, I am very hesitant in switching to another aed's. I am not sure if his behavoir is from the side effects of the drugs or an indicator of another breakthrough seizure, or just maybe his own character. But I do try to take one day at a time. The first six months he had alot side effects, drooling, dizzieness, etc. He does seem to calm down after increasing his doseage when a breakthrough seizure happens. But everyone is built differently and reacts differently to medications. I hope your child is doing well, and you are taking care of yourself, as well.
Hope to hear from you or anyone with info on clobazam.

I am not a parent yet, but I have some info on Frisium (Clobazam).Frisium it is not available in the US, yet, and there are no signs that it ever will be. In Canada and various other parts of Europe it is used as a maintenance drug of choice for partial seizure disorders, both types of partial seizures (SPS, CPS, and SGTCS).Almost always used in addition to another drug, very seldom used as a stand-alone drug treatment option.Taking Frisium with food will minimize any nausea or upset stomaches. Some common side effects are dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, stomach cramps, nervousness, weakness, behavior changes, CNS depression, irritability, or loss of coordination. It is in the drug class known as the Benzodiazapines, and has the potential to be addictive even when treating for epilepsy. I don't think it is recommended for children under 12 years of age, because of its strong toxicity in small children. You would have to look that up somewhere else.It is adviseable that after 3 months if there is no improvement in seizure control, or the seizures have intensified in frequency and severity, or there are other seizure types appearing that weren't there before, then the drug needs to be stopped immediately and the child taken to the ER.Chances are they were toxicated by it.As for the dosage, I can't even tell you that. I would have to dig around in my stuff on Epilepsy and hope to find it for you and the post another reply to this one again in a few hours. But since it is not a US drug and I am in the US, I may never be able to get all the info for you. Try asking your doc about it, he may know something that I haven't passed on to you.Asking others whether they had a good or bad experience with it or the side effects that they got, is a little unrealistic, because everyone reacts and responds to drugs in various ways. What happens to one person may not happen to the next. One person may not have any side effects and can reamain on the drug longer, while others have bodies that can not tolerate it, so they have to stop. You can only base the actions and response of and to the drug on what your son does with it. He isn't everyone else, and will quite possibly react to it alot different than they did.If you are in the US, then don't plan on getting this drug, because there is no market for it, and probably never will be. You can get it from Canada, or some other country in Europe by Rx from your current doc if he thinks it is a safe drug for your son at that age, and then get the drugs via the mail from somewhere else.Hope that was of some help.NancyPS I will try to get you the dosage info and age range on the drug and more side effects if I can find it.
