College appeal

Fri, 05/01/2009 - 17:20

I'm appealing to a new school with my eplilpsy being the contributer to my under achivment.

Here is my slight problem, I really want to come to this school for a shorter waiting list for radiography.  They want to know how my life will be different.

Reality is my health isn't going to change much, unless i I have a steep decline in my meds my comprehension and reading is going to remain a cloud of smoke.

I'm planning to include reaching out more to the community, working closer with dissability cordinator, tutoring, fewer classes to reach full potential.  So, would you just let your nero take care of the probelem or try to add a phrase that will "sweeten the pot".

Hi, as far as your appeal you may want to get a letter from you neuro to explain the problem(s).  anything that is going on "including sweetening of the pot" should go throught the neuro.  there maybe other options that can help to clear memory and congnition.  different med, diet, sleep, relaxation can all have an effect.  Excluding your neuro is not a good idea,  it is also not a good idea to give complete control to the neuro.  It has to work together if it will work.  If you want to try something, have questions, get answers.  The other thing that you may want to look into is if what you are doing in school is effected by the americans with disabilities act.  just some thoughts.  don't give up.  hope it helps.  Rikk

Although I didn't mention I am including my nero.  I'm set in the way of my medications,  appears I have finally found the perfect doseage, except the meds include my long list of side effects.

I am slowly learning new eating habits since moving away from home, as I'm not in the best shape, setting a routine would benifit me since I rather enjoy sleeping, a bit to much.  I feel community involvment would be important to help me reach out and make friends, raise my esteem, not just getting to know college staff.

Altbough I often have met with the dissability cordinator, I haven't had great success.

Now that I have told the school of my epilepsy they are willing to look at my appeal to enter in the fall semester where I would previously told I have to wait untill November.

I'd like to enter a radiography program.  A close professor does not reccomend this major since I had so mich trouble with memorization in my past anatomy class, my advisor didn't even want me in since it's one of the hardest classes at my University.

hi,  sounds like you are going in the right directions.  With regard to the program.  three things come to mind.

1.  Can you get into the program?

2.  If you do can you do the work and be successful with the class.

3.  What are the losses or gains with regard to passing or failing the class.

The biggest thing is to not give up on you.  The more you are in life the better it gets.  lonly hurts and is boring.

Hope it helps.   rikk
