Thu, 12/02/2004 - 17:41
Day 1 - CJ had a fever all day took 2 long naps but was eating and acting normal. When I got home at 6:30pm I took his temp it was 102.4 I gave him Tylenol. He eat, had Motrin at bed time and stayed asleep all night. Day 2 - CJ had no fever, ate, napped and played normal all day. At dinner in the highchair he was a little fussy, normal if he doesn't like what I give him. So I went to give him a different food when he suddenly went into a deep frozen cry. I single deep breath as he stayed frozen eyes fixed to his left, blood shot and watery and not responding to my voice or touch. I picked him up and he loosen up and snapped out of it. Acting like he just woke up from a nap and very pale I took his temp, No fever. 15 mins later he was eating and playing fine, the same meal as before. Note he was not crying before or after the moment when he froze. We went to ER he has no visible infection or high fever. They said it was a breath Holding thing, not common in infants but not unheard of and sent us home. What do you think? Seizure or Breath Holding. . .

Well, they won't do anything for the first one anyway, if it was.  It does sound suspicious, and lets just hope it doesn't happen again.  If it does, and the episodes keep getting more frequent, then take him to/call your ped right away and then maybe he would recommend you bring him to a pediatric neurologist.
