twitching sleep

Sat, 03/26/2011 - 06:50

hi everyone, i thought i would take a shot at putting a wee post up here, i hope i have done it in the right place... i have recently went to the doctor complaining of tiredness, i mean i get up in the morning and could go back to bed again, its horrible.... she thinks im taking another type of seizure with the two tht i already take, she never told me what the name was, but what she did say was that i could be taking about 20 in a day and not even realise it, but i will feel the aftermath, the sore heads, and the tiredness... my fiance has actually noticed really early in the mornign i have started to really twitch in my sleep, i think eveyone does this at some point whilst falling asleep, but could it be epilepsy related doing it early in the morning? does anyone know the name of the seizure the doctor was describing to me?

thanks Stace

Hey Stacey, I think what your doctor is talking about is Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy. I have this form of epilepsy and twithing in the morning is the major sign of this type of epilepsy. Your doctor could also being referring to absence seizures when she says you could be having 20 and not even notice. I have seen some stuff about a connection between Jme and Absence seizures. I would look into these types of epilepsy, maybe you can find more answers. I hope I could help. Ken

hi ken,

thankyou very much for your reply, to be honest i had no idea this type existed, i have reaad up a little about it, and it describes alot of what i seem to be experiancing, early in the morning and in the later part of the day, i get really clumsy, dropping things, even walking into doors, absence seizures i do take, so it could be a connection, i think ill get myself back to my doctor and see whats going on, thanks again
