Travel advice please

We are due to travel to the USA this weekend for a big family reunion. Last Friday night my 4 year old daughter had a focal seizure at 2am then the next night another seizure (not focal) upon waking. She's only had one before last august where the paramedics were called. She is otherwise fit and healthy. Her bloods and ecg came back fine but she will need an eeg and mri in a few weeks. The consultant said because we only have a week before we go we would need her to have a ct scan for precaution (which involves radiation) and we would need to take medication just in case there was a problem. She said the safest thing was probably to stay at home but it's a tough call. It's a long haul flight with lots of activities planned for the two weeks away. We've taken the decision for me to stay at home with her as we have no way of knowing if she will have more seizures and she hasn't been formally diagnosed yet. But she's really looking forward to it and we are trying to take the right decision. I guess if anyone is able to give any advice whatsoever on how you went about the first few weeks of seizures happening and whether you have any opinions on what we should do I would be so grateful. I'm a little tired and frazzled after two days in hospital talking about tests and how to move forward with this. Many thanks in advance!!

I don't know if this is any helpful or not. I have had epilepsy for 41 years I am now 46. I have never let it get in my way of stopping me from taking a trip when I want. At around 10 I flew to Disney Land, around 19 family flew to Disney World, at 37 I flew to Mexico, just recently to Las Vegas. As well as many flights and drives across Canada. I live up north in Saskatchewan if that helps.

OK go and do the family thing

OK go and do the family thing. I have never had any problems while traveling across the country. The only difference I make sure of is the time difference so the medications are as close to the times I take them at home. Those time delays can affect the therapeutic levels in the body. The person you need to check this with is not the consultant but the neurologist. They may have medications for her to take in case she has a seizure while in flight,, Focal seizures land among partial seizures so there shouldn't be any problems. I have only been living and dealing with focal and other seizures for 50+ years now..   Have a nice time and do enjoy the trip, Your daughter might have a really good time. At her age we had a vacation to Illinois where I met uncles and aunts. I saw corn that was then the house played with a cousin that I never saw again.
