can you not take ST JOHN WORT if you suffer from epilepsy

It can interact with some of the AEDs or seizure meds, and cause the liver to metabolize or breakdown those meds quicker. Then their levels drop and may not work as well. Before taking any herbal products or over the counter meds, talk to doctor treating epilepsy to figure out if okay to use or not. Hope this helps! Epilepsy.com Resource Specialist

I believe Carbamazepine metabolizes quicker if it interacts with Saint John's Wort, according to some research.
