Peti-mal and passing it down to my son

Sun, 02/14/2016 - 16:32

Hey,

I'm a 25 yr old male and I was born with Peti mal epilepsy. They have never been able to stabilise my fits with medication and have my good months and bad months normally having 1 to 3 fits on a bad month and surgery has been out of the question.

My 1 yr old son had a fit yesterday morning I wasn't there to see it so can't explain too much but he was sitting eating and his head rocked back and forth his eyes didn't roll back to his head... He had gastro a week earlier and the day before he had gastro befor the day of fit.

The hospital arnt sure why he had the fit and will have to go have the scans to see... As a lot of people who have epilepsy and have kids or planning I'm sure you guys know the feeling of passing this down to our kids.

I have read that there are slim chances of passing this down but would like to hear some more story's of other people's experience.

When I started my testing the

When I started my testing the neurologists asked questions. Epilepsy doesn't run in my family. My cousin started having seizures and they questioned her family. We got a call a call and the neurologists started the questions. They stopped when Mom told them about us being questioned. We followed that with the cause of my epilepsy since what caused mine was scared brain tissue. As you found out it is rare but it does happen. Relax and let the doctors do their job. The testing may come out with reasons. I hope this helps and your son gets seizure free
