Lamotrogine

Mon, 08/03/2015 - 00:36

I switched meds. From Depakote to lamotrigine about 5 months ago, my Lamotrogine didn't control my myoclonus the first 2 weeks my skin was a little itchy but no rash. About a month later Dr. combined with Zonisamide, the very first day I took it combined with Lamotrogine I had a terrible reaction. I had lots of vomit, my vision was very bad, my balance, nausea, skin irritation! And I lost about 17 pounds in one week.

Ok, I tooked zonimaside for about 3 days because dr. Told me it was a bad reaction and I most probably allergic to Zonisamide.

Ok, well Dr. Combined my Lamotrogine with clonazepam (which I am not allergic to it cuz I took it before) in unfortunately my Lamotrogine and clonazepam still didn't work with myoclonus:(

Well so I suggested my Dr. I we should combine Lamotrogine with a small dose of my old med. (Depakote) which he said that was his favorite combo and he thinks that most probably it will work.

Well here is a little issue that I have been going through daily since I started the Lamotrogine, my skin still irritating, burning sensation, even on my head, and very ITCHY!!! And when I scratch my self my skin gets totally red and it doesn't go away for a while. This is being going on for all this time my family thinks it the heat because where I live is so hot!  But I had been on this weather before and never had this reaction, my skin totally changed my face is so greasy and I sweat a lot! ( I used to be a very cold person) when I mentioned to my neurologist he said not to worry, that if there is no rash or fever I must just be allergic to something.

Well this situation is been going on for the last past 5 months, and it got worse when I took the zonimaside (don't know if that is the right name).

I am a title scared because I know about the bad side effect of Lamotrogine is a rash, and next week I will combine it with Depakote again. I am afraid it get worse, I had been reading a lot about Lamotrogine side effects and now I am wondering that maybe I wasn't allergic to Zonisamide maybe I am allergic to Lamotrogine? Because my skin issues still here!
