Ketogenic Diet??

Thu, 01/12/2017 - 11:49
Our 7 year old son was diagnosed with simple partial seizures a few months ago. So far no medication is helping with the seizures, so we're gathering as much info as we can regarding the Ketogenic diet. We're slowly working into the diet as we wait for our first appointment with a nutritionist. For those who have had success with the Ketogenic diet, I was wondering about how quickly seizures come on when they "cheat". Our son had pretty high fat/low carb meals yesterday morning and during lunch and did great at school with only one 30 minute episode of seizures (which is good for him right now!). But after school he ate a ton of carbs. Then from 4pm on, he had constant partial seizures the rest of the night. Can the cheating with carbs bring on the bad episodes that quickly?? Thanks in advance for any help you're able to give... this is a scary road we're just beginning down and we're trying to gather as much info as we can!

Search dr Russell blaylock excitotoxins and dogtorj diet for additional diet info and foods to avoid. The point of being on a ketogenic diet is to get the body using fats for fuel, so cheating takes the body out of ketosis.  Also there are a lot of foods one can eat on a ketogenic diet that can trigger seizures so you need to avoid those foods.  Good luck.
