Haitian Boy with Epilepsy, how to help?

Thu, 08/25/2016 - 10:49
Hi all! I have had epilepsy since I was ten and thankfully I haven't had a seizure in nearly four years. I can attribute this to the doctors and medication that I have easy access to because I live in the states. I have a friend who goes to Haiti once or twice a year and sponsors a 15 year old boy named Olmond who has drop seizures. I know that the seizures last 30 seconds on average but he has several a day (one day he had nine in two hours). I would love to be able to help this boy, but considering the circumstances in Haiti, it makes it nearly impossible. There is no easy access to a doctor and no way to mail anything into his town. Any ideas?

There are herbal remedies

There are herbal remedies that have been useful for some to control seizures. I would do some research on those and see if any of them are things he would be able to have access to. Other than that, limiting caffeine, increasing sleep, staying in a steady calm emotional state (as heightened emotions are a trigger), and keeping a healthy diet can help to keep seizures at bay.
