sorry to hear about your seizure. You may have had another seizure while at the hospital and if you did you might not know you had one. If in the ER they will run tests which may all come back normal. The tests that they are waiting for are probably the EEG. It is a test showing the electrical output coming from your brain. All a seizure is is an electrical impulse going off wrong in your brain. That impulse going off wrong causes a chain reaction which is the seizure itself. As for the medication. Keppra is becoming the go to medication for seizure control. It is a good medication and I have used it for about 15 years now. It not only reduced the number of seizures I was having it also shortened the time in them. Me seizures used to be 2-8 minutes long and are now 2-8 seconds long. The recovery time was 15-45 minutes and at times longer. It is now seconds long. As for how long you will be on medications. That all depends on the meds and type of epilepsy and seizures. Some people get seizure free and get off meds. Others get seizure free but still take meds. Some are able to have surgery and become seizure free, Each person is different so each person has to have treatments that help them. Treatments are medications, dosages and procedures. If you want answers this site has them. Start with the get help section since it can give you the types of epilepsy and seizures. Look at triggers which can give you some of the things you need to keep an eye on One of them is stress another is lack of sleep. The best way to get results is to ask questions. I asked many. If my doc asked questions which they always do. I had one for almost every question he asked.
